Daimler SP 250 Restoration

They say these Daimler sports cars are an acquired taste, well we have acquired it! Controversial when new, only around 2500 were built between 1959 and 1964 but today these cars are in much sought after and command high prices.

This 1960 car came to us with a smoking engine, a noisy diff and tired paintwork and interior. We undertook a comprehensive restoration adding some useful enhancements on the way.

The lovely 2.5 litre V8 was treated to a full engine rebuild with modifications to the valve guides so we could fit modern valve stem oil seals, the suspension was completed refurbed, rack and pinion steering installed and differential bearings renewed. The car was completely stripped for some fibre glass repair and repaint in the original Daimler cream, the interior was treated to a full retrim in red leather and the roof was replaced for black mohair.

The result looks lovely and the car now drives beautifully with tight suspension and hugely improved steering.
